Senior Associate Costs Lawyer – Permanent

Our client is a highly regarded UK law firm with a strong reputation for delivering technically excellent legal services. They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Associate Costs Lawyer to join their established team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced costs professional to take on a key role advising clients on complex costs matters, managing disputes and contributing to the continued development of a successful costs practice.

The Role

• Manage costs disputes and advisory matters from inception through to resolution
• Work alongside experienced costs professionals on high-value and complex matters
• Advise clients on costs strategy, procedure and assessment
• Handle detailed assessments, negotiations and costs-related disputes
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships
• Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the costs practice

About You

• Qualified Costs Lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience
• Strong technical knowledge of civil procedure, costs rules and assessment principles
• Proven experience managing complex costs disputes, detailed assessments and negotiations
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with experience appearing before costs judges where appropriate
• Commercially minded with the ability to manage your own caseload and client relationships
• Proactive approach to fee-earning and business development

Qualifications & Experience

• Costs Law qualification and current membership of the Association of Costs Lawyers (ACL) or equivalent professional body
• Legal qualification such as an LLB, GDL or equivalent, alongside relevant costs law training
• Previous experience within a law firm or specialist legal costs practice
• Demonstrable experience handling complex and high-value costs matters
