Legal Aid Costs Draftsman

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

Location: London / Hybrid working available

A highly regarded specialist law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Legal Aid Costs Draftsman to join its established finance and costs team.

The firm provides a broad range of high-quality legal services across a number of specialist areas and has an excellent reputation within the legal sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing a variety of Legal Aid costs work, providing technical support and ensuring claims and bills are completed accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and drafting Legal Aid claims and bills
• Drafting schedules of costs
• Preparing Legal Help claims
• Managing Criminal Legal Aid claims
• Providing costs guidance and support to fee earners
• Assisting the wider billing team where required
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and in line with relevant legislation and procedures

Skills & experience required:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Costs Draftsman, either in-house or within a specialist costs environment
• Strong knowledge and experience of Legal Aid costs work
• Understanding of CPR, case law and relevant costs procedures
• Excellent communication and IT skills
• Ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work

Part-time applications will also be considered.
