Construction Principal Associate
West Midlands – £90,000 - £95,000
This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious construction lawyer looking to take the next step in their career within a globally recognised practice.
The successful candidate will work on major domestic and international projects across the energy, infrastructure and built environment sectors, advising an impressive client base that includes multinational corporations, contractors, developers, public bodies and government organisations.
The Opportunity Joining a market-leading team, you will play a key role in delivering strategic and commercial legal advice on high-profile construction and engineering projects. You will work closely with colleagues across national and international teams and contribute to the continued growth and strategic direction of the practice.
This role is ideally suited to a senior lawyer with strong technical expertise, leadership capability and genuine aspirations for future partnership progression.
Key Responsibilities - Advising on a broad range of complex non-contentious construction matters
- Drafting and negotiating construction and engineering documentation including NEC, FIDIC and JCT contracts
- Supporting major energy, infrastructure and development projects
- Managing your own matters and leading transaction teams where appropriate
- Supervising, mentoring and developing junior lawyers within the team
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Taking an active role in business development and strategic growth initiatives
- Collaborating with colleagues across wider practice groups and international offices
About You - 7+ years’ PQE in non-contentious construction law
- Strong technical expertise across a broad range of construction and engineering projects
- Experience advising on NEC, FIDIC and/or JCT standard form contracts
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to legal advice
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload
- Previous experience supervising junior fee earners and contributing to business development initiatives
