Inquest Associate

Manchester – £40,000 - £60,000

I am delighted to be partnered with a Tier 1 Legal 500 Defendant firm as they expand with a talented Inquest Associate to join their dynamic team in Manchester. 

My client is passionate about driving social and environmental impact, championing fairness, and forging connections to deliver creative solutions for our diverse range of clients.

The Opportunity: 

• Contribute to one of the largest and most highly-ranked teams in the country for inquest and Court of Protection work.
• Manage a caseload of complex inquest and Court of Protection matters, primarily for the NHS, with opportunities to work for independent sector health and social care clients and local authorities.
• Be part of a team that provides a range of high-quality legal services on a variety of health and social care advisory issues.

Day To Day: 

• Deliver exceptional client service, including proactive, strategic, and commercial management of cases.
• Manage a caseload of inquests and Court of Protection work with supervision and, in general, without recourse to counsel.
• Potentially deal with a range of other healthcare advisory work, such as mental health cases and general advisory work.
• Delegate and supervise tasks to more junior members of the team where appropriate.
• Undertake marketing activities, including assistance with the planning and delivery of relevant seminar and training programmes.

Desirable Experience:

• Ideally, experience relating to Court of Protection, including health and welfare applications and s21A MCA 2005 challenges and/or serious medical treatment applications to the High Court.
• Advocacy and case management skills gained in Court of Protection or inquests, or other relevant setting.
• Experience in health and social care advisory matters, including mental health, adult safeguarding, responsible commissioner advice, and professional advisory on health and social care legal matters.
