Our client, a respected UK law firm with a thriving Construction practice, is seeking a Non‑Contentious Construction Associate / Senior Associate (2–8 PQE) to join their Birmingham office. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high‑profile, complex construction and infrastructure projects, acting for a broad range of clients across the public and private sectors.

You will be part of a collaborative, specialist team advising on large‑scale construction contracts, project delivery, risk management and procurement matters. You will work closely with developers, contractors, funders, local authorities and institutional clients, providing pragmatic, commercially‑focused legal support tailored to each project’s needs.


Key responsibilities include:
  • Advising on non‑contentious construction and engineering matters, including NEC, JCT and bespoke forms of contract
  • Supporting clients on major infrastructure and development projects from inception to completion
  • Drafting and negotiating construction contracts, collateral warranties, professional appointments and supply agreements
  • Providing risk‑based analysis and practical commercial advice on contract strategy, obligations and liabilities
  • Assisting with procurement, insurance, performance security, extensions of time and related construction matters
  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives
The ideal candidate will have:
  • 2–8 years’ PQE in non‑contentious construction law
  • Experience advising on construction contracts and project delivery (e.g. NEC, JCT or bespoke forms)
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to provide pragmatic legal solutions
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a busy team
