Costs Team Leader – Permanent

Our client is an established and growing professional legal services organisation with a strong specialist costs function. They are looking to appoint an experienced Costs Team Leader on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced costs professional with strong leadership skills to take responsibility for team performance, costs operations and the delivery of a high-quality service.

The Role

• Lead and manage a specialist costs team, overseeing day-to-day performance and delivery
• Provide direction on costs strategy, processes and best practice
• Monitor team performance, workload and operational priorities
• Support the development and progression of team members
• Oversee costs processes, billing activity and financial controls
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of costs objectives
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and service standards
• Provide clear reporting and updates to senior stakeholders
• Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and within required timescales

About You

• Substantial experience within a costs management, legal costs or professional services environment
• Proven experience leading, managing and developing a team
• Strong understanding of costs procedures, billing processes and financial controls
• Confident managing stakeholders at different levels of an organisation
• Able to communicate costs strategy and operational priorities clearly
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment
• Commercially aware with a proactive approach to problem-solving

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant qualification in law, accountancy, business management or a related discipline would be advantageous
• Professional qualification within costs, legal practice management or a related area desirable
• Previous experience within a law firm or regulated professional services environment
• Demonstrable leadership and people-management experience
