Legal 500 Ranked Top 200 A highly regarded London law firm is seeking an ambitious Contentious Probate Solicitor to join its established and market-leading private wealth disputes team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a specialist practice recognised by both Legal 500 and Chambers for its expertise in contentious trusts and probate matters. The team advises a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals, families, charities, professional trustees, and vulnerable individuals, on a broad range of complex and high-value disputes.
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload while working closely with experienced partners and senior lawyers on complex matters. Typical work will include:
- Advising claimants and defendants in contentious probate and trust disputes.
- Handling challenges to the validity of wills, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, and disputes involving executors, trustees, beneficiaries, and estate administration.
- Providing strategic advice on litigation risks, settlement opportunities, and dispute resolution options.
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, applications, correspondence, and settlement agreements.
- Managing matters from initial instruction through to mediation, trial, or negotiated settlement.
- Attending mediations, court hearings, and client meetings.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across private client and dispute resolution teams.
- Contributing to business development initiatives and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Keeping up to date with developments in contentious trusts and probate law.
Candidate Profile Applications are welcomed from solicitors who can demonstrate:
- Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales with approximately 2–5 years' PQE.
- Strong experience in contentious probate, trusts disputes, or closely related commercial/private wealth litigation.
- Excellent technical knowledge of wills, trusts, probate, and inheritance-related disputes.
- ACTAPS membership or an interest in working towards accreditation.
- Experience of mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
- Exposure to high-value or complex estate and trust disputes.
- An interest in networking and business development activities.
