Location: Accrington/Hybrid
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience An excellent opportunity has arisen for a client-focused and compassionate Private Client Solicitor to join a well-established and forward-thinking law firm in Accrington. This role offers the chance to work within a respected Private Client team of around 20 staff, advising individuals and families on a full range of wills, probate, and estate planning matters.
The position involves attendance at local events, and home visits, providing a truly client-centred service.
The Role: As a Wills & Probate Solicitor, you will provide expert legal advice and guidance on all aspects of private client work, ensuring every client receives a professional and empathetic service. You will manage a varied caseload of matters, including will drafting, estate administration, and inheritance tax planning, while contributing to the ongoing success and growth of the department.
Key Responsibilities Include: - Draft straightforward and complex wills, ensuring clients' wishes are accurately and legally reflected.
- Prepare bespoke wills incorporating discretionary and life interest trusts, including matters involving business or agricultural assets.
- Draft and register Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) for both property and financial affairs, as well as health and welfare.
- Review existing wills, trusts, and related documentation to ensure compliance with current legislation and alignment with clients' intentions.
- Handle the full probate process, including obtaining Grants of Probate or Letters of Administration.
- Manage the collection, valuation, and distribution of estate assets in accordance with wills or intestacy rules.
- Prepare and file inheritance tax returns and other tax documents (income and capital gains tax) as required.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of all estate transactions, communications, and financial activities.
- Implement and administer trusts created under wills, including registration and preparation of related documentation such as Deeds of Appointment.
What We're Looking For: - Qualified Solicitor with proven experience in Wills, Probate, and Estate Planning.
- Strong technical knowledge across wills, inheritance tax planning, trusts, and estate administration.
- Exceptional client care skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and sensitively.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- A proactive and commercially aware approach with an interest in business development.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between offices and client sites as required.
