Industrial Disease Solicitor
An Industrial Disease/Personal Injury Solicitor or Legal Executive is wanted for an excellent opportunity with a Top 100 law firm based in Newcastle. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
My client is an award winning, national law firm with an enviable reputation in the market. Due to continued growth and expansion they are looking to recruit a dedicated Solicitor or Legal Executive to join their Tier 1 ranked Claimant Personal Injury team where you will be working with clients diagnosed with a wide range of asbestos‑related and non‑asbestos respiratory conditions. This includes mesothelioma, asbestos‑related lung cancer, asbestosis, pleural thickening, occupational asthma, silicosis and other workplace‑related respiratory illnesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of workplace‑related respiratory illnesses from initial instruction through to settlement or trial. You will also assist Partners on high‑value or complex matters.
- Investigate liability, obtain expert evidence, and develop case strategies for high-value claims.
- Work closely with clients and their families, providing clear advice and compassionate support throughout the litigation process.
- Instruct and liaise with counsel, medical experts, and rehabilitation professionals.
- Engage with insurers and defendant solicitors to negotiate settlements where appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with relevant procedural rules, regulatory obligations, and firm policies.
- Train and mentor junior colleagues in the team.
Applications are invited from Solicitors/Legal Executives ideally at the NQ-5 years PQE level; however we are also happy to consider more experienced candidates. Industrial Disease experience would be an advantage but not essential as those from a general personal injury background with a real interest in this area of work will also be considered. You will have excellent client care and communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting individuals who have suffered life-changing injuries.
Benefits:
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a Top 100 firm that offers a great work-life balance and fabulous benefits, including:
- Company pension scheme
- Option to buy extra holidays
- Flexible working hours/remote working
- Performance related bonus scheme
- Private healthcare
- Employee Assistance Programme including counselling, legal and consumer advice service
- Volunteering days
