This highly regarded and long standing law firm is seeking an experienced Probate Lawyer to join their team on a permanent basis due to expansion. Recognised for delivering exceptional client service, the team advises individuals, families, executors, trustees and professional advisers on a wide range of estate administration matters.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented professional who enjoys working on complex, high-value estates and is looking to develop their career within a supportive, collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

You will manage a varied caseload of probate and estate administration matters from initial instruction through to final distribution, with a particular focus on high-net-worth and complex estates.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing all aspects of estate administration from instruction to completion.
  • Administering high-value and complex estates, including those involving business interests, agricultural property, trusts, investment portfolios and overseas assets.
  • Preparing applications for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration.
  • Advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries throughout the estate administration process.
  • Preparing inheritance tax returns and liaising with HMRC on complex tax matters.
  • Identifying inheritance tax planning opportunities during the administration of estates.
  • Preparing estate accounts and overseeing the distribution of assets.
  • Working closely with accountants, financial advisers, wealth managers, valuers and other professional advisers to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
  • Assisting with contested estates and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 where appropriate.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and professional referrers.
  • Supporting the continued growth and success of the Private Client department.

The firm is looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with outstanding client care and enjoys building long-term client relationships.

You will ideally have:
  • Significant experience in probate and estate administration.
  • Experience managing high-net-worth and technically complex estates.
  • Excellent knowledge of inheritance tax, estate administration and trust law.
  • A thorough understanding of probate practice and procedure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and compassionately.
  • The confidence to manage a busy caseload independently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • A proactive, commercial approach and a genuine commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
The following would be advantageous, although not essential:
  • Qualification as a Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX), STEP practitioner or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience advising on trusts, succession planning and broader private client matters.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues.

In return, the following is on offer:
  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Performance-related bonus scheme.
  • The opportunity to work on high-quality, complex and rewarding matters.
  • A supportive, collaborative and inclusive working environment.
  • Genuine opportunities for career progression and professional development.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement.
