Personal Injury Paralegal

Bristol – £24,000 - £27,500

Personal Injury Paralegal / Case Handler (Non-Motor / EL/PL) - £27,500 DOE + Excellent Benefits Package - Bristol City Centre (Hybrid: 3 days home, 2 days office)

The Opportunity

Are you a Personal Injury professional looking to step away from repetitive motor claims and elevate your career into complex injury lines?

An exceptional opportunity has arisen with a highly respected, national top-tier law firm for a Non-Motor Personal Injury Case Handler to join their Claimant Injury department in Bristol city centre. This firm is renowned for its premium quality file intake, strong corporate partnerships, and commitment to clear internal routes to professional qualification.

Unlike many volume insurance environments, this role offers an enviable 35-hour working week and a genuinely balanced hybrid model, allowing you to work 3 days from home and 2 days from their modern city centre office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Caseload Management: Independently manage a rewarding claimant caseload of Fast-Track personal injury claims up to a value of £25,000.
  • Diverse Scope: Handle a variety of non-motor claims, focusing on Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) files.
  • End-to-End Handling: Take files through the entirety of the MOJ Portal framework, as well as managing pre- and post-litigation stages outside of the portal using a modern case management system.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with clients, insurers, medical experts, and counsel to drive files to a successful conclusion.
  • Quality & Compliance: Participate in weekly risk assessment meetings and maintain excellent service standards.

What We're Looking For
  • Essential Experience: Proven track record of independently handling a personal injury claimant caseload.
  • Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of the MOJ Portal and experience navigating claims allocated to the Fast Track (including litigation experience).
  • Background: While non-motor (EL/PL) experience is highly desirable, ambitious case handlers with strong motor/RTA experience looking to transition into non-motor lines are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Qualifications: A law degree, CILEx, or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential, your practical case handling exposure is what matters most.
Why Apply?
  • Better Work-Life Balance: A standard 35-hour working week (between 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday)
  • True Hybrid Flexibility: 3 days remote working per week from day one (laptop provided).
  • Premium Benefits Package: Access to a comprehensive health cash plan, gym and lifestyle discounts, and an exceptional annual leave allowance.
  • Career Progression: A people-focused firm that actively structures individual development plans and supports professional routes to qualification.

If you're looking for a role where you can grow quickly, feel supported, and still have a life outside work, then please get in touch.

Gareth Hibbert is a Business Manager at Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment, having been with the company for over two years. On a personal note, he is looking to move house to something a bit bigger with a garage so he can tinker. After a busy day, Gareth doesn't get much time to unwind with a 2-year-old, but his unwinding comes during the tram journey home. He loves spending quality time with his family, as nothing beats that. If he weren't in recruitment, Gareth would likely pursue a career in microbiology, particularly focusing on soil, though he’s glad he’s not, as he thinks he might not handle all the excitement!
