Senior Agiculture Property Associate

Birmingham – £70,000 - £80,000

The Opportunity

We are currently working with our client, a highly regarded UK law firm, who are looking to recruit an Associate or Senior Associate to join their Agriculture & Rural Affairs team, with a base in Birmingham.

This is a standout opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading agricultural law teams, advising on high-value rural property transactions, succession planning, and emerging areas such as natural capital and environmental regulation. The team operates nationally, offering exposure to a broad and high-quality client base including family farms, landed estates, and rural businesses.

The Role

You will work on a varied caseload of non-contentious agricultural property matters, playing a key role in advising clients on complex and high-value transactions.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Advising on farm and estate acquisitions and disposals, including associated agreements
  • Supporting clients on AHA tenancies and succession planning
  • Navigating emerging legislation, including biodiversity net gain (BNG), conservation covenants, and Environment Act requirements
  • Building strong client relationships with farmers, landowners, and rural businesses
  • Contributing to business development initiatives, including attending industry events and supporting marketing activity
  • Managing files efficiently, ensuring high standards of client service and delivery
The Team & Platform

You will be part of a national agriculture team with a strong reputation in the sector, working collaboratively across multiple offices and supported by a wider full-service legal platform. The team is well-connected within the industry and actively engaged with key organisations and events, offering excellent visibility and networking opportunities.

What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years’ PQE (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong background in commercial or agricultural property
  • Experience handling high-value land transactions
  • Understanding of the agricultural sector and emerging environmental issues (e.g. BNG)
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Candidates from a commercial property background with a genuine interest in agriculture are also encouraged to apply.

What’s on Offer
  • Opportunity to work in a specialist, high-value sector
  • Exposure to a nationally recognised agriculture practice
  • Agile and flexible working tailored to individual needs
  • A strong platform for career progression and sector specialisation
  • Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package
