Douglas Scott are working with a leading UK law firm that is seeking an Employment Associate (2-5 PQE) to join its well-established Employment team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an employment solicitor looking to work on a high-quality mix of contentious and non‑contentious matters for a diverse employer client base, with genuine responsibility, regular client contact and long‑term development within a respected national practice.
The Role
You will advise employer clients across a broad range of sectors including transport, insurance, government and public authorities, professional services, healthcare, and sports and media. The work will involve advising large to medium‑sized organisations on day‑to‑day employment issues as well as more complex matters.
The role offers a strong balance of advisory and Employment Tribunal work, with opportunities to work closely with senior lawyers while also running your own caseload.
Key Responsibilities - Advising employer clients on a wide variety of employment law issues.
- Managing Employment Tribunal claims, including drafting pleadings, case management and preparation for hearings.
- Assisting senior lawyers on complex advisory matters, including discrimination, TUPE, restructures and employee relations.
- Drafting employment contracts, settlement agreements, policies and other employment documentation.
- Delivering clear, practical and commercially focused advice.
- Supporting business development and client relationship initiatives within the team.
Requirements - Qualified solicitor with at least 2 years' PQE in employment law.
- Strong experience in contentious employment matters; advocacy experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
- Confident client‑handling skills and a proactive, collaborative approach.
