A modern, commercial legal business is seeking a Solicitor or experienced litigator to join its high-performing Local Authority Team. The team provides expert advice and representation to councils across England and Wales, supporting the recovery of unpaid business rates, council tax, adult social care costs, and managing associated disputes.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with
Property Litigation experience who wants to work on complex, high-value cases across multiple forums including Magistrates Court, Valuation Tribunal, County Court, and the Chancery and Administrative Divisions of the High Court. Over the past decade, the team's work has recovered millions for public funds, making a tangible difference to local communities.
Key Responsibilities - Manage a caseload of litigated cases, including complex property and debt recovery matters across a variety of courts
- Provide clear, strategic legal advice to local authority clients
- Drive positive outcomes on challenging cases using legal insight, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise
- Support and mentor junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment
- Play a key role in delivering results that directly impact public services and local communities
The Ideal Candidate The team is looking for someone who enjoys technical legal work, thrives on problem-solving, and wants to make an impact through the law. Candidates should have:
- Experience in Property Litigation and/or debt recovery litigation, civil litigation or insolvency.
- Strong written communication and analytical skills
- A practical, client-focused approach to legal problem-solving
- A team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and a willingness to mentor and support others
Candidates with a strong litigation or technical background in another area may also be considered, as retraining opportunities are available.
