Associate - Property Damage and Recovery
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid - 3 days WFH / 2 days office)
Salary: £60,000 DOE + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
My client is looking to recruit an Associate to join their property damage team in Birmingham.
You will be working with a highly reputable team that advises many of the UK's largest insurers, underwriters, and corporate clients on complex and high-value (100m+) property damage and fraud recovery matters.
The Role
You will work on a broad range of high-profile claims, often valued in the multi-millions that includes:
- Fire, flood, infrastructure, and building defect claims
- Subsidence and party wall disputes
- Policy coverage issues including non-disclosure, fair presentation of risk, and breach of conditions
- Corporate fraud and asset recovery work, often involving injunctive relief and cross-border investigations
You will handle claims under a wide range of property policies, including commercial combined covers, property owners' risks, and construction all-risks policies. The role will involve both pursuing recoveries and defending liability claims, giving you exposure to a wide variety of contentious and advisory work.
About You
- A qualified Solicitor (ideally 3+ years PQE) with experience in property damage, insurance litigation, or recovery work. Relevant pre qualification experience will be considered
- Strong technical skills and a commercial approach to problem-solving
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
- Experience handling complex, high-value claims is advantageous
