Commercial IP & IT Transactions Associate

London – £170,000 - £240,000

Join a globally renowned firm at the cutting edge of IP, data, and emerging tech.

This is not your average transactional role. You’ll advise on novel, cross-border matters involving AI, software, data governance, and commercialisation, often as part of major international M&A deals and joint ventures.

The team operates at the convergence of intellectual property, digital innovation, and regulatory evolution, advising clients from startups to global household names across sectors like tech, music, fashion, sports, and luxury.
If you’re looking for a genuinely elite platform to develop deep IP/IT expertise in an international context, this is your next step.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead on IP/IT aspects of complex commercial and corporate transactions
  • Draft and negotiate licensing, tech transfer, SaaS, outsourcing, and data-sharing agreements
  • Advise on AI governance, UK/EU regulatory frameworks, and digital risk
  • Handle strategic IP issues in M&A, JVs, and emerging tech launches
  • Collaborate with colleagues across UK, EU, and US offices on multi-jurisdictional deals
  • Mentor trainees and contribute to team growth and knowledge building
What you’ll need:
  • 1–4 years’ PQE in transactional IP, tech, or data law, ideally from a Magic Circle, US, or top-tier firm
  • Experience in licensing, IP/IT contracting, GDPR/DPA advisory, and AI-related regulation
  • Strong commercial instincts, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex deals
  • Outstanding academic background and excellent client-facing skills
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and a collaborative mindset

This team regularly leads the technology and IP components of headline corporate transactions. You'll advise on regulatory and contractual frameworks for AI, data commercialisation, and digital platforms - work that sits at the forefront of tech law in the UK, EU, and US.

You’ll be exposed to clients operating in cutting-edge industries, including AI and robotics, luxury fashion, music tech, SaaS, and fintech.

This is a tight-knit, high-trust group within a prestigious global platform. Associates are trusted early, client-facing from day one, and supported with partner mentoring, international secondments, and a clear path to growth.
You’ll be surrounded by brilliant minds, but in a culture that prizes humility, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Work at the intersection of IP, technology, data, and regulation
  • Be part of a growing, high-impact group at an elite international firm
  • Develop business development and leadership skills in a client-facing role
  • Competitive US firm salary, global mobility, and cross-border collaboration
  • Shape the legal frameworks that govern AI, digital platforms, and next-gen IP
