Legal Director - Casualty Location: Leeds / Manchester or Newcastle
A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Director to join its top-tier Complex Liability & Injury practice. This is a senior strategic position for a proven leader in the field of employers' and public liability work, with the opportunity to manage complex, high-value cases and contribute to the growth and development of a nationally recognised team.
The Opportunity This role offers the chance to work on technically challenging, high-profile claims, collaborating with market-leading partners and a strong national network of specialists. You'll play a key role in developing client relationships, driving business development initiatives, and providing leadership and mentorship within the team.
Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage a diverse caseload of complex liability and injury claims, including catastrophic injury, employers' liability, public liability, product liability, and defective premises cases.
- Oversee high-value, multi-track litigation, providing expert strategic guidance and ensuring outstanding client service.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of policy coverage and related advisory issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients across key sectors including insurers, loss adjusters, public authorities, and corporate organisations.
- Contribute to business development and client growth, identifying opportunities to expand existing relationships and develop new ones.
- Support the wider team through leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

- Operates across seven UK offices, acting on high-profile and cross-border claims.
- Known for its collaborative approach, modern solutions, and integration of legal technology and R&D innovation to deliver value and efficiency.
The Ideal Candidate - 10+ years' PQE (or equivalent experience).
- A UK Qualified Solicitor or CILEX qualified with significant experience in complex liability and injury defence work.
- Proven experience managing multi-track and catastrophic injury claims.
- Strong technical ability with commercial acumen and strategic vision.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with a focus on mentoring and developing others.
- Demonstrable experience in client relationship management and business development.
