Location: Oldham (Hybrid working available)
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 DOE + on-call payments 
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
 
A well-established and highly regarded law firm based in Oldham is seeking an experienced Duty Solicitor to join its busy Criminal Defence team.
 
The firm has built a strong reputation across the North West for its fearless approach to defending clients in serious and complex criminal cases, including murder, large-scale drug conspiracies, and high-value fraud matters.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Represent clients at police stations, Magistrates' and Crown Courts
• Manage their own caseload of serious and general criminal matters
• Advise on complex, high-profile cases including homicide, serious drug offences, and large-scale fraud
• Work closely with an experienced team of advocates and counsel
• Participate in the firm's out-of-hours duty rota (with paid enhancements)
• Contribute to the team's ongoing success through collaboration and a proactive attitude

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor with current Duty Solicitor accreditation
• Proven experience handling a range of criminal defence matters
• Strong advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage a busy caseload
• Team player with a genuine passion for criminal law
• Full UK driving licence and own transport preferred
