Solicitor: Health & CareLocation: Leeds or Manchester (Hybrid)Salary: Negotiable dependant on experience The Role An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate or Legal Director (7+ PQE) to join a well-established Health & Care Regulatory team, advising clients across the health, social care, education, and housing sectors. The position offers a mix of contentious and non-contentious work, with a particular emphasis on advising local authority clients.
The team operates on a hybrid basis across multiple offices and is recognised for delivering clear, practical, and responsive advice. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.
Role Summary The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of health and social care regulatory matters, with a strong focus on local authority work — particularly children's services, Court of Protection proceedings, and SEND matters. The role will also involve contributing to the development and expansion of client relationships within the local government sector.
There will be opportunities to support on related areas such as inquests, safeguarding, and wider regulatory issues.
Key Responsibilities - Manage and progress a caseload of advisory and contentious regulatory matters.
- Provide representation and advocacy at Court of Protection hearings and Tribunals.
- Advise local authorities and other public bodies on statutory duties, care provision, and governance.
- Contribute to client development and business growth, including the management of key client relationships.
- Support the supervision, mentoring, and development of junior colleagues within the team.
- Collaborate across departments to provide coordinated legal support on multidisciplinary projects.
Candidate Profile - Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 7 years' post-qualification experience.
- Demonstrable expertise in local government, health, or social care law.
- Experience advising on Court of Protection, children's services, or SEND matters.
- Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and deliver high-quality, pragmatic legal advice.
- Strong advocacy and communication skills, with confidence engaging directly with clients.
- Track record of leading or contributing to business development initiatives.
- Team-oriented, collaborative approach with strong organisational and mentoring skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to apply legal knowledge to real-world situations.
