Catastrophic Injury SolicitorLiverpool - HybridA leading national Large Loss team is seeking a driven and detail-focused Solicitor (2+ years PQE) to join its expert legal service. The team handles high-value and technically complex insurance claims with reserves over £150,000, covering a wide range of serious personal injury matters including brain, spinal, amputation injuries, chronic pain/FND, and substantial dependency fatality claims. The team’s caseload represents over £800 million in client reserves.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-profile and challenging cases involving motor, employers’ liability, public liability, and product liability claims. Vigilance against fraud is maintained across all claim values.
Key Responsibilities - Support partners in the management and progression of catastrophic and high-value PI claims
- Manage own caseload of complex injury claims (typically up to £500,000)
- Conduct initial investigations and prepare client-facing and internal strategy reports
- Liaise with key stakeholders including solicitors, insurers, police, HSE, and witnesses
- Instruct and manage appropriate medical and non-medical experts
- Maintain and monitor action lists and case management systems
- Attend court hearings, conferences, and Joint Settlement Meetings (JSMs) as required
- Draft legal documents including letters, reports, reserve sheets, and action plans
- Supervise and assist in the development of junior team members
- Ensure accurate completion of client and internal management information (MI)
- Adhere to Data Protection, CPR procedures, and rehabilitation protocols
- Stay updated on legal developments in defendant PI work
- Meet set financial targets and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Maintain quality and compliance with all internal and client policies
About You: You will be a qualified solicitor with around 2+ years PQE and experience managing a defendant personal injury caseload (motor preferred, EL/PL considered). While prior large loss experience is not essential, a strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are key. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with a good understanding of CPR procedures.
