London – £90,000 - £100,000
This is an opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading Regulatory & Investigations teams, recognised nationally for its expertise in health & safety, environmental and corporate crime matters, and consistently ranked in the top tiers of the legal directories.
The team is known for handling high-stakes, high-profile regulatory defence, investigations, prosecutions, fatal accident/inquiry work, corporate manslaughter and environmental regulatory issues. Clients include large corporates, high-net-worth individuals, public authorities / regulators and insurers. The work spans sectors such as rail, construction, manufacturing, real estate and healthcare.
The firm is consistently recognised in The Legal 500 UK and Chambers UK for regulatory practice strong client feedback, and involvement in national-level inquiries and fatal incidents.
What You’ll Do
- Actively support and lead investigations and regulatory defence matters (Health & Safety Executive, regulators, police, environmental bodies, etc.).
- Manage all or part of large regulatory incidents: crisis response; interviews under caution; liaising with regulators; drafting submissions/representations.
- Conduct inquests, fatalities / major accident investigations and public inquiry work.
- Advise clients on environmental regulatory risk, pollution events, enforcement action.
- Work closely with senior lawyers in preparing strategy, legal advice, litigation or prosecution defence.
- Interaction with clients: large corporations, insurers, board‐level; manage expectations under pressure.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified solicitor with 2-5 years PQE in regulatory investigations, health & safety, environmental law or similar.
- Demonstrable experience in investigations / regulatory defence / inquests or related work.
- Strong evidence of handling serious matters: incident work, prosecutions, inquiries, etc.
- Excellent drafting and advisory skills; capable of translating complex legal/regulatory issues into pragmatic, commercial advice.
- Comfortable in high pressure, high visibility situations; able to work efficiently across multiple stakeholders and disciplines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral; good team player but able to take initiative.
