Senior Sanctions Associate / Legal Director

Greater London – £100,000 - £160,000

A leading international disputes practice is seeking to strengthen its business crime & regulatory investigations team with the hire of a senior sanctions lawyer. This is a rare chance to step into a lean but high-performing group at a pivotal growth stage.

The role
You’ll handle a broad mix of UK, EU, and US sanctions matters, often with a cross-border element. The work spans:
  • Advising corporates, financial institutions, and HNW individuals on sanctions compliance and enforcement.
  • Acting in sanctions-linked disputes, injunctions, and asset recovery cases.
  • Supporting regulatory investigations with sanctions overlap (FCA, OFAC, FCDO).
  • Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to business development.
What you’ll need
  • 5–10+ PQE (Senior Associate / Legal Director level) with strong sanctions expertise.
  • Proven ability to run cases with minimal oversight.
  • Experience across multi-jurisdictional disputes or investigations.
  • Appetite for client-facing work, BD, and team mentoring.
Why this team?
  • A genuine platform for career progression with partnership prospects.
  • Opportunity to play a pivotal role as the team consolidates and grows.
  • A collaborative, non-hierarchical culture where senior lawyers have visibility and autonomy.
  • Global footprint: work regularly spans Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and beyond.
Package: Competitive + plus bonus, with flexibility for the right candidate.

If you’re a sanctions lawyer looking for a role where you can operate at a high level, shape a growing team, and avoid the factory-hours culture of some larger firms, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
