Residential Conveyancing Department Lead
Location: Blackpool / Hybrid
Salary: £50,000 per annum A well-regarded regional law firm is looking for an experienced and driven Residential Conveyancer to lead its busy and long-established conveyancing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor, licensed conveyancer, or legal executive with 10+ years’ PQE who is ready to take the next step into a leadership position—managing both a busy caseload and a growing team.
The Role: As Department Lead, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the conveyancing team while managing your own active caseload of residential property transactions. You’ll play a vital role in shaping team success, mentoring junior colleagues, and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a personal caseload of 80–100 residential property matters, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, new builds, and transfers of equity.
- Supervising and supporting a team comprising two trainees and three administrative staff, ensuring compliance and progress across all files.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for escalated queries, technical support, and complex transactions.
- Providing clear and practical legal advice to clients throughout the transaction lifecycle, from instruction to completion.
- Monitoring service levels and departmental KPIs, maintaining efficiency and client satisfaction.
- Supporting business development activities to grow the team’s profile and caseload.
- Collaborating with senior leadership on strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives within the property department.
What We’re Looking For: - A qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or Chartered Legal Executive with at least 10 years’ PQE in residential conveyancing.
- Strong experience managing a high-volume caseload independently.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior team members is advantageous.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- A client-focused, commercially aware mindset with the ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach to team management and client care.
